Laura Borger is a proud native of southern Illinois. She has taught at area high schools and colleges since 1998. She earned her BA in English and BS in Education in 1998. She earned her MS in Speech Communication with a focus on at-risk education in 2003. After teaching English at Carbondale Community and Marion High Schools, she reentered graduate school and earned her MA in English in 2012. She then taught English and dual-credit speech courses at Sparta High School through 2017.
In the fall of 2017, she accepted a position at Southern Illinois University teaching UCOL 101: Saluki Success. This course is a first-year seminar dedicated to helping students transition into college life at SIU.
